You need to devote time to apply for competitions
Jakub Hodboď, Global Head of Strategy at Ogilvy Social Lab and Chief Strategy Officer of the Czech branch of Ogilvy, has become a juror of this year's Global Best of the Best Effie Awards. In an interview for Marketing & Media, he shared his experience with the evaluation of submitted projects and presented how to succeed nowadays in competitions of this level.
"First of all, it is necessary to devote enough time to the preparation of the application — both collecting data and its correct dosage for the case study, and building the story and readability of the application. It's also good when strategists work with accounters and creatives on the applications, and everyone kicks for the case study, so to speak. Internal feedback also helps, as it can pull you out of the bubble on the project when you have been living with it for several years. In general, I would say that a prerequisite for success is a long-term relationship with a client who is also more willing to share data," Hodboď says.
